Jonathan Jay Breaks Silence on Chandler Moore Lawsuit, Denies Financial Misconduct Allegations
Maverick City Music co-founder and CEO Jonathan Jay has publicly responded to the lawsuit filed by gospel artist Chandler Moore, addressing the allegations of financial misconduct and mismanagement within the award-winning Christian music collective.
In a detailed Instagram post shared on Wednesday, Jay defended both himself and Norman Gyamfi, his business partner and fellow Maverick City executive, marking the group’s first major public statement since news of the lawsuit surfaced.
“I cannot let a series of lies go unchecked,” Jay wrote. “The claims being made against me, against Norman and against our companies are categorically false. Our business dealings with Chandler were forthright, generous and above reproach. We acted in good faith, gave more than what was required and consistently extended grace.”
This response follows reports that Chandler Moore filed a federal lawsuit alleging financial irregularities, breach of contract, and mismanagement of his music earnings and intellectual property. The legal documents reportedly accuse Gyamfi and others of diverting millions of dollars in royalties tied to Moore’s brand and music catalog.
Moore, known for his powerful worship songs and long-standing role as one of Maverick City’s lead vocalists, announced earlier this year that he was parting ways with the group alongside Naomi Raine to focus on new individual projects.
While Jonathan Jay has personally spoken out to defend his integrity and that of the organization’s leadership, Maverick City Music as an entity has not yet released an official statement regarding the ongoing dispute.
Fans and industry insiders have since taken to social media to express mixed reactions. Some have praised Jay for addressing the issue directly, while others continue to call for transparency and reconciliation within the Maverick City Music family.
Despite the controversy, both parties continue to maintain large followings and support within the gospel and Christian music community. Many observers hope that this legal matter will be resolved peacefully and that the ministry impact of Maverick City Music and its members will continue to inspire millions across the world.
